Our story: Olive oil from Priego de Córdoba
Venta del Barón olive oil was born out of an outburst of jealousy
Legend has it that the Baron of Santaella was condemned to lay the first stone
stone of the Malmuerta-Turms, which in turn formed the basis for this unique extra virgin olive oil.
Origin and quality of our extra virgin olive oil from the highlands of Priego de Córdoba
Originating from the highlands of the PDO Priego de Córdoba, the olive grove is located in a high mountainous environment, surrounded by unspoilt land in the heart of the Sierra de La Subbética Cordobesa Natural Park. The location at around 1,000 metres above sea level gives the olive oil unique characteristics and an extremely high organoleptic complexity. It is produced exclusively from olives harvested in an artisanal and traditional way, resulting in a natural juice with an incomparable character. The result is a pure, dense and intense flavour with a higher content of natural antioxidants. These characteristics have made Venta del Barón the best extra virgin olive oil in the world for more than six consecutive years. Extra virgin Spanish olive oil: the Priego de Córdoba designation of origin
The town of Priego de Córdoba is located on a fertile plain at the foot of the Sierras Subbéticas.
The "Priego de Córdoba" designation of origin, which also includes Venta del Barón, only recognises extra virgin olive oil from the Hojiblanca, Picuda and Picual varieties. This designation is reserved for olive oils with a wide range of culinary applications, particularly for enhancing salads, as a finishing touch to prepared dishes and for consumption raw.
The Regulatory Council for the Priego de Córdoba Designation of Origin was created in 1995. Since then, it has vigorously promoted the quality and promotion of the products. The extra virgin olive oils under this designation of origin have been honoured nationally and internationally with almost a thousand awards since its creation.
